Cultivating Change through the roots of education

experiences inform change

Project Bloom is an educational non-profit that enhances learning by providing immersive, engaging, educational experiences for classrooms and the community. Inspired by Dr. Maria Montessori, Project Bloom believes that transformation is sparked by curiosity and fueled by experiences that connect us to the moment and the world around us.

Project Bloom makes enriched educational experiences free for the community, classrooms, teachers, and students who need it most.

Project Bloom Projects

Caterpillar Condos for Title I classrooms

In this month-long experience, students develop a special connection to nature as they observe the metamorphosis of a live Monarch Butterfly in their classroom.

Participating title 1 teachers are provided with a hands-on training called Metamorphic Morning at the Botanical Garden where they receive a milkweed plant with caterpillars, a digital Monarch Journal with access to four video lessons and the TEKS-aligned curriculum, and a citizen science project where students tag and release their monarch.

Now in its seventh year, this culturally relevant program served over 16,000 title 1 students in 16-Greater San Antonio school districts and 48 zip codes in 2025 .

Monarch Butterfly & Pollinator Festival

The mission of the annual Monarch Butterfly & Pollinator Festival is to celebrate and educate our community about monarch butterflies, pollinators, and the ecosystem that sustains both them and us.

Through hands-on, nature-based immersive experiences, the festival aims to inspire individuals of all ages to form deep connections with the natural world around the and inspire them to make change.

Now in its eleventh year, on festival day over fifty mission-aligned educational partners convene to provide hands-on, nature-based experiences for children and adults to over ten thousand attendees.
